Content Rights and Creator Licensing
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Today. LAYAN TV has not licensed or published any series to the public, and no series is on sale.
This page sets out where our content rights stand today, and how we will license series from creators and rights holders.
Where our content stands today
| Category | Today |
|---|---|
| Original content with verified commercial rights | None. |
| Third-party productions with signed licences | None. |
| Internal development test material | Fictional titles with test clips and artwork, used only to test the service in our non-production environment. They are not for public viewing or sale, and our database refuses to publish them. |
| Content not yet acquired or cleared | No title is in the process of being licensed. Any series we consider stays off the service until a licence is signed and its rights are checked. |
An earlier version of this website showed fictional titles and creator names, marked as demo data on its home page, to show what the service would look like. They were samples only: not real productions, and none of them was ever sold.
Who owns what
The model we have decided on is to license series, not to buy them. By default, the creator or rights holder keeps the copyright and gives LAYAN TV a non-exclusive licence in writing. Any exclusive deal needs a separate signed agreement. An upload alone is not proof of rights.
What a licence will cover
Our Creator Terms are still a draft awaiting review by counsel, so no creator has accepted them. The licence is planned to cover:
- streaming the series on the LAYAN TV web and apps;
- the technical copies streaming needs, such as re-encoding and storage;
- posters, images, trailers and promotional clips, within limits the licence states;
- subtitles and captions.
We do not distribute series to other platforms for resale.
What creators declare
Before submitting a series, a creator makes a rights declaration covering:
- who owns the series, and that the person declaring is authorised to act for that owner;
- that the person is 18 or over;
- that music and every other element (images, fonts, clips) is cleared;
- that there is no pending claim, exclusive grant or dispute;
- that the series’ AI label is accurate;
- consent from identifiable real people; and
- that the age rating is accurate, and the content is lawful in Malaysia.
For music, we accept only music made for the series, or library music whose licence covers streaming services. We do not accept commercial songs, or works controlled by a music-rights society such as MACP.
How a series is published
Creators submit; LAYAN TV publishes. Nothing is published automatically. Before publication we need a recorded written licence, a content and rights review, an age rating and an AI label. Our database refuses to publish without that clearance.
Submissions from real creators are not open yet: they wait for the Creator Terms from counsel and for a second copy and restore test of masters. Creator earnings are not active. No revenue share has been approved and no payment is made to creators.
Rights complaints
If you believe something on LAYAN TV infringes your rights, email us with the subject [Report]. Tell us who you are, which work is yours, where the material appears, why you believe it infringes your rights, and how to reach you. We confirm we have your complaint within 3 working days and may take content down while we check. See also the Terms and Conditions.
